The "Steam Into History" train is a new tourist attraction that opened in 2013. It follows an old rail line spur from New Freedom, Pennsylvania to Hanover Junction. Extensively used during the Civil War, President Lincoln used this rail line on his way to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in 1863 where he made his historic "Gettysburg Address".
Born and raised in Iowa, I served in the United States Navy for 24 years before finally retiring to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where I currently work as an air traffic controller at the Lancaster Airport in Lititz, PA. I've always had an interest in photography, especially aviation; and now that digital has arrived, I enjoy capturing the images that I've always passed on because of the cost and my lack of experience. I hope that my images might inspire someone to stop for a moment, look around, and enjoy the beauty around them. You never know what you might see.
