Now a private luxury yacht, the lightship "Nantucket" was the last operating lightship that marked the hazardous Nantucket Shoals south of Nantucket Island. She was decommissioned in 1985 ending the 165 year era of the United States lightship.
About Dan Myers
Born and raised in Iowa, I served in the United States Navy for 24 years before finally retiring to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where I currently work as an air traffic controller at the Lancaster Airport in Lititz, PA. I've always had an interest in photography, especially aviation; and now that digital has arrived, I enjoy capturing the images that I've always passed on because of the cost and my lack of experience. I hope that my images might inspire someone to stop for a moment, look around, and enjoy the beauty around them. You never know what you might see.
